PARADE PRE-REGISTRATION

On behalf of the Parade Committee of the Old Shawnee Days Society, I would like to welcome you to the 53rd annual Old Shawnee Days parade on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at 10am. The Old Shawnee Days parade is one of the largest in the State of Kansas with awards given in several categories. This year’s theme will be "Peace, Love and Old Shawnee Days" so please be sure to keep in mind as you plan your entry. The list of award categories are:  Best depiction of Peace, Love and Old Shawnee Days, Best float entered by a business, Best motorized, Green Machine – best use of recycled materials, Most Patriotic, “2019 Grand Marshal’s Award” (depicts best theme), “2019 Mayor’s Award” (best overall entry), This year, the Old Shawnee Days Society will also award the “Most Unusual” entry for this year’s parade. 

There is no fee to enter the Old Shawnee Days parade and 2 ways to register:

2. Walk-in registration 
Fill out form at Shawnee City Hall - 11110 Johnson Dr
Fill out form at Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department - 13817 Johnson Drive

Pre-registration will be closed on Friday May 24th, two weeks before the parade.

Note:  We will use the same parade route as last year with the parade starting at 55th and Nieman Rd. This is due to ongoing construction on Nieman Rd between SM Parkway and Johnson Dr.  We will not have staging areas as we normally do.  Entries will line up as you arrive to the parade staging area.  You can also register on site parade day, June 8th at 9 a.m. Volunteer staff will be in parade vests and will be there to greet you. 


PARADE GRAND MARSHAL

The Old Shawnee Days Society is now accepting nominations for a Grand Marshal in the annual Old Shawnee Days Parade. Nominees must be Shawnee residents and have made a significant contribution to the community through their work or volunteer efforts, or to the preservation of Shawnee's history. 
 
Nominations should include the following information: 
 
Name, address, phone, job or profession and a summary of accomplishments of the nominee. 

Name, address and phone number of nominating individual and their relationship to nominee. 

In 100 words or less, why the nominee should be considered for grand marshal. 
 
Nominations must be received by April 19th and can be mailed to: Old Shawnee Days Society, P.O. Box 3214, Shawnee, KS 66203. Nominations also may be sent via e-mail
