About US

Old Shawnee Days was established in 1968 as a free festival to build community spirit by bringing the residents of Shawnee together to celebrate the beginning of summer each year. Originally established by the Shawnee Historical Society, the effort was taken over in 1997 by a new 501c3, the Old Shawnee Days Society. Today, the Old Shawnee Days Society organizes and operates Old Shawnee Days and all of the events surrounding it each year, booking musical acts, reviewing vendor applications, organizing thousands of volunteer hours and soliciting individual community donations and financial sponsorships from local businesses.

The Festival still operates with Free Admission for everyone and has grown to an event enjoyed by the entire Kansas City metro area.

Vendor fees and donations supporting the festival also go to create the Becky Nicks’ Junior Pioneer Scholarship, awarded to two Shawnee students each year.
